If you're travelling abroad, you need a Travel Health Consult
Most travelers don’t realize how much risk they’re taking by skipping a proper travel health consultation. It’s not just about shots — it’s about safety.
International travel can expose you to health risks Canadians don’t typically encounter — from mosquito-borne diseases and foodborne illness to vaccine requirements for entry into certain countries. Many of these risks are preventable, but only if you’re properly prepared.

What's a Travel Health Consult?
At Remedy’s Pharmacy & Travel Clinic in Scarborough, our pharmacist-led Travel Health consultations give you a personalized protection plan based on your destination, activities, and health profile — not a generic checklist.
We help you navigate requirements, prevent illness, and avoid last-minute surprises. Because the truth is: when you're traveling internationally, skipping a travel consultation is a risk you don’t need to take.

Your Travel Health
Consult Includes:
1. In-Depth Itinerary Review
We analyze your full itinerary to pinpoint exactly what you need to prepare for, based on disease risk, seasonal outbreaks, and access to care.
- Countries, cities, and regions you’re visiting
- Travel dates, seasonality, and duration of stay
- Urban vs rural destinations
2. Individualized Medical History Review
No two travellers are the same. We take the time to understand your medical history and review your existing immunization record so that we can make safe, informed recommendations.
- Your age, health conditions, and current medications
- Past vaccine history and immunity levels
- Special considerations (e.g., pregnancy, immunosuppression)
3. Your Vaccination Recommendations
(Get them right on the spot!)
Our recommendations will include both destination-required and routine vaccinations suited to your travel itinerary and purpose of your trip. These can include:
- Yellow Fever (with certificate)
- Hepatitis A & B
- Typhoid (oral or injectable)
- Cholera (oral)
- Meningitis (especially for Hajj/Sub-Saharan Africa)
- Japanese Encephalitis
- Rabies (for extended rural exposure)
- Routine catch-up: Tdap, MMR, Polio
4. Destination-Specific Preventative Medication + Additional Travel Support
Some health risks can’t be vaccinated against. We prescribe appropriate medications and share practical prevention strategies.
- Malaria prevention (region-specific)
- Altitude sickness support
- Traveler’s diarrhea and gut health protection
- Motion sickness, jet lag, and hydration strategies
5. Official Travel Documentation
We provide you with all the necessary health-related documents required for your trip, including:
- International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP) for proof of yellow fever or other mandated immunizations.
- Medical letters, documentation of administered vaccines, for personal and official records
These documents are prepared in accordance with international health regulations to help you meet entry requirements and travel confidently.

Africa
Travel to Africa often includes exposure to yellow fever, typhoid, malaria, and other region-specific health concerns. Depending on the country you'll be visiting, you may require certain vaccinations for entry, e.g. a Yellow Fever vaccine is often mandated.
Whether you’re going on safari, visiting family, or working abroad, we’ll help you get the vaccinations, documentation, and preventive medications you need to travel with confidence and peace of mind.
Middle East
Travel to the Middle East often involves urban settings, pilgrimage sites, or business travel, each with different considerations.
We’ll help you navigate vaccine requirements, including Meningitis for Hajj, assess food and water safety needs, and discuss any chronic health conditions that may need extra care in hotter climates.
Europe
Even though Europe may seem low-risk, your trip could still benefit from a travel consult — especially if you’re pregnant, immunocompromised, or managing a chronic condition.
We’ll review routine vaccines like Tdap and MMR, help with medications for motion sickness or altitude (if you’re heading to alpine areas), and support safe travel through crowded cities and public transportation systems.
Mexico, the Caribbean, Central & South America
Even if you're heading to a resort, vaccine-preventable illnesses like Hepatitis A, Typhoid, and Traveller’s Diarrhea are common in this region.
We’ll help you prepare for your trip with destination-specific guidance, practical gut health strategies, and on-the-spot vaccinations, so you can enjoy your time away without unexpected illness.
South + East Asia
From bustling cities to rural adventures, travel throughout South and East Asia may expose you to mosquito-borne diseases like Dengue or Japanese Encephalitis, as well as food- and water-related illnesses. We’ll review your itinerary, assess the risks, and help you build a health plan that covers vaccines, travel medications, and jet lag prevention strategies — especially if you’ll be crossing multiple time zones.

Do you provide malaria pills or prescriptions?
